The dangers of the vPOST SCAM

Please note the following only applies to foreigners, i.e. anybody who is not Singaporean. Singaporeans do not get double charged on the base charge, this is reserved for their “valued customers”

At some point last year, vPOSTAsia. vPOSTJapan, vPOSTEurope and vPOST USA stopped offering combined shipping for items. Doesn’t seem like a big deal right?

Well wrong, when using most of the online retailers that they advertise on their front page, you are exposing yourself to a base charge of $29.40 PER ITEM.

How? Have you ever had Amazon decide to part ship your order, or ship it in pieces even though you’ve ticked the group items box? I did and here was my bill...

So apart from a difficult to use website, poor customer service (they’ve made it harder to contact them by bouncing their email addresses), you could be up for hundreds of dollars in excess shipping charges.

What kind of response can you expect to get?

“Kindly note that there is no cost savings for consolidating shipment under vPOSTAsia including Thailand, Malaysia,India  and Australia.Saving on base charge only applicable for vPOSTUSA consolidated shipments for delivery to Singapore address. The base charge applies to all packages for vpostasia Thailand, Malaysia, Australia and India. Thus, you will need to pay for the base charge for each of the package.”
